Browne Education Campus wins GetSchooled Fall Attendance Challenge

Browne Education Campus wins GetSchooled Fall Attendance Challenge

The middle school students at Browne Education Campus competed against 250 middle and high schools across the nation in the “Get Schooled Fall Attendance Challenge”, a friendly competition where schools compete to earn points over a three month period by improving their attendance and engaging in a series of educational games. Browne Education Campus finished first place for our division (fifth in the competition) with a final score of 114 out of 115 points.  We beat the second ranking school in our division by a total of 53 points.

Browne students achieved a 4.09% improvement in attendance which is over one point above the nation’s average (3.06%).

Browne is located in Northeast Washington, DC and won the Middle School Division (<600 students).

Fabulous Prizes for Fantastic Efforts

Because of the hard work of our students, Browne has earned: a personalized I-pod for the student with the best effort in the challenge; a Get Schooled goody bag for 3 students with the high participation in the challenge games; a classroom supply closet (equaling $250) for Mr. David Barker (middle school Science teacher) who won the “Teacher Appreciation” challenge and A CELEBRITY VISIT from ROCSI DIAZ (former co-host of 106 & Park and current co-host of Entertainment Tonight) on the Get Schooled Celebrity Victory Tour.  Along with local and national television and print news, radio (WPGC 95.5 hosted the event) and internet media (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram), Rocsi visited a few classrooms and participated in a pep rally with our students on the importance of school attendance and academic achievement.
